Alibaba will help musicians protect their copyrights. All thanks to blockchain – Blocksats

Alibaba patented a blockchain-based way of checking the originality of musical works. This is an important step in the fight against plagiarism.

Alibaba wants to support musicians

If the giant’s idea from the e-commerce market is successful, it will solve one of the main problems of the recording industry. It is after all about the protection of copyrights to musical works.

How is this supposed to work? The node in the chain has to make “Originality analysis” music track. The process is to assess how similar the melody, tempo and other elements of the song, such as lyrics, are to those from other compositions.

These data will be published on the blockchain and summarized in a special report generated after verification. The latter is to contain a similarity index. Ultimately, the process is to end with a recommendation regarding the originality of the given tracks, and thus the song.

Alibaba claims that this method of checking songs can help protect copyright.

“Currently, there is still no platform that could be used to analyze the similarities of musical works to identify plagiarism or imitations”

Anyway, this is real, because Led Zeppelin began recording the famous ballad in December 1970. At the end of the 1960s, both bands performed during one performance, where theoretically Zeppelini could hear the theme from “Taurus”. In the era blockchaina the matter could be quickly cleared up …
