Mark Cuban talked about Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies during Anthony Pompliano’s podcast
A little over a month ago, billionaire investor Mark Cuban said he had no cryptocurrency. That is no longer the case, as he recently discussed on a podcast.
Cuban is the owner of the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks, which announced a partnership with BitPay last August to accept Bitcoin for tickets and merchandise. During an appearance this month in The Pomp Podcast with presenter Anthony Pompliano, he shared approximately how much Bitcoin has raised so far.
“We put this on for the Mavs. We did this originally four years ago and nobody bought anything, ”said Cuban. “We are now using Bitcoin. Please buy everything in Bitcoin. I’m fine with that, right? I think we won $ 130. This is all the Bitcoin I currently have. ”
Cuban’s previous comments about his appearances (or lack thereof) came during an appearance on the YouTube show by Kevin O’Leary, co-star of the Shark Tank.
He has been a staunch critic of cryptocurrencies, pointing out obstacles to comprehensive understanding and adoption, as well as difficulties in spending crypto without converting it to fiat currency. Cuban focused on those points again when asked by Pompliano what could change his mind about Bitcoin:
“It would have to be a lot easier to use,” he replied. “It would have to be completely friction-free and understandable to everyone first, and then you could say that it is an alternative to gold as a store of value.”
“In terms of being a way to carry out transactions, be it funds transfers or whatever, you need to spend them,” continued Cuban. “At the moment, you still need to convert it to whatever you want and, while you need to convert it, it still depends on fiat currency, no matter what you say.”
Cuban may not be convinced right away, but if he doesn’t get rid of that small amount of Bitcoin, he could see a good appreciation very soon – especially after this week’s high.
