The CEO of QuadrigaCX is alive?
Eighteen months after Gerald Cotten, the founder and CEO of QuadrigaCX, died during a trip to India, most cryptocurrency users apparently still believe they are still alive.
According to an online survey conducted during the Virtual Consensus 2020 event, as much as 60 percent respondents said they think Cotten is definitely alive and 90 percent agrees that the body reported as belonging to the CEO of the bankrupt stock exchange should be exhumed and autopsied.
Skepticism about the death of Cotten is mainly due to the fact that as a result his company lost access to the funds of clients of the stock exchange. Thus, with his death, the mass of QuadrigaCX users lost theirs kryptowaluty. Over time, it turned out that many strange things were happening in the background, including organizational and financial chaos of the platform.
“Even the largest stock exchanges can fall”
One of those who suffered a lot from the downfall of QuadrigaCX was Tong Zou, a user who spoke at Virtual Consensus 2020 about his experience. He is an IT specialist, but he tried to transfer his savings through the stock market and lost over USD 400,000.
– I am more conservative now [w kwestii kryptowalut] than before – Zou said, citing that in his opinion QuadrigaCX, as one of the oldest stock exchanges at that time, could seem a safe and modern tool for the transfer of funds. He was shocked when he lost his money.
– Even the largest, longest running stock exchanges can still fail – Zou admitted. He said the main problem with kryptowalutami there is still no regulation, which leads to frauds and situations such as what happened with QuadrigaCX.
Today we know that the issue regarding the collapse of the stock exchange is still ongoing. It is not clear when it will end and when customers will receive refunds and in what form.
