Elon Musk avoids rumors about collaborating with Ethereum after a year
Elon Musk, the CEO of SpaceX, confused the crypto community with his position on digital assets. However, his recent tweet suggests that he is not using a specific cryptocurrency and is not planning to create anything on his network either.
The crypto world has evolved in terms of global reach and adoption. Starting with few enthusiasts, the crypto industry currently has many followers, including government officials, celebrities and large investors. However, some others were sitting on the fence still analyzing the side to choose. The CEO of SpaceX, as well as Tesla, Elon Musk is one of those characters.
More recently, Musk dismissed rumors about his involvement with the Ethereum network.
Canadian actor William Shatner has been exploring the fruits of blockchain technology for some time. The actor even went on to symbolize his memories on the WAX blockchain. More than a year ago, on May 10, 2019, Shatner, in his tweet, indicated a collaboration between the creator of the Ethereum network, Vitalik Buterin and Elon Musk. His tweet read:
Cryptonians! My friends @VitalikButerin & @ElonMusk were trying to decide what to build on @Ethereum. I’ve been waiting & waiting 🙄 I finally decided to do something myself. Join me! 😘 Bill 👉🏻https://t.co/S8A6lAjapU # MCC2019 #blockchainweeknyc #atomicswapnyc @mattereum pic.twitter.com/NEd8MSVwHC

“Cryptonics! My friends @VitalikButerin and @ElonMusk were trying to decide what to create at @Ethereum. I was waiting and I finally decided to do something myself. Join me! ”
After more than a year, Tesla’s CEO decided to respond to Shatner’s tweet, explaining that he was not creating anything on Ethereum:
This was a major blow to the Ethereum community, as several members began to flood the comment section. While some members of the Ethereum community suggested the topic of agricultural production to Musk, others took the opportunity to present their favorite cryptocurrencies to Tesla’s CEO.
This misconception could have been fueled by Musk’s tweet on April 30, 2019. The billionaire tweeted:

However, breaking the hope of the crypto community, Musk explained who was kidding about the same.
Musk’s position on cryptocurrencies or specifically Bitcoin has been confusing to many. In January 2020, appearing on a podcast, Third Row Tesla Podcast, Musk suggested that he “was neither here nor there in Bitcoin”. However, when Harry Potter author JK Rowling appeared to be interested in Bitcoin, Musk revealed that he had only 0.25 Bitcoin. According to Bitcoin’s price at the time of publication, the billionaire had only 2,267.42 USD.
Despite revealing that he sees Bitcoin as a means for illegal transactions, he suggested that the Bitcoin whitepaper formulated by Satoshi Nakamoto was “quite smart”.
