Elon Musk – who has a net worth estimated at $ 40 billion – has a surprisingly small amount of Bitcoin.
Billionaire businessman Elon Musk told the world yesterday how much Bitcoin he owns and is a bit… modest – for a billionaire who has tweeted Bitcoin memes in the past.
Commenting on J.K.Rowling’s tweet that left the crypto world in a frenzy, Tesla’s CEO – one of the richest men in the world, with a net worth of $ 40 billion – revealed that he has only 0.25 Bitcoin. Today, that represents just under $ 2,500 of cryptocurrency.
Musk told the Twitter crypto community how much he keeps in BTC after explaining Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling that the largest cryptocurrency by market cap could be useful.
“The massive issue of currency by government central banks is making Bitcoin look solid.”
Reaction of great figures of the cryptography
Tyler Winklevoss, CEO of New York cryptocurrency exchange Gemini, asked Musk how he would “pay for things on Mars” – referencing the technology titan’s plans to place humans on the red planet in one of his rockets.
While Ari Paul, co-founder and CIO of Block Tower Capital, toyed with the small amount that the billionaire owns. “Someday you will have a complete BTC if you continue.”
And Francis Pouliot, executive director of Bull Bitcoin, said to Musk: “anything is better than zero!”
Musk did not respond to any of these comments.
Musk and cryptocurrencies
The founder of SpaceX this year has already spoken a few times about cryptocurrencies. Musk said in January to a podcast listeners who considered Bitcoin “smart enough”, but raised concerns about the criminals who used it, before adding that cryptocurrency could be “effectively a substitute for money.”
In March he admitted that his favorite was cryptocurrency Dogecoin.
Musk has already sparked a lot of controversy on Twitter and has been criticized for his online explosions – which has led his companies to lose billions in stock value.
But the eccentric entrepreneur’s most recent comments have had little influence on the price of Bitcoin … given his recent tweets about Tesla’s stock price, this is probably the best.
