As it turns out, the Euronet ATM network has again set a limit for one-off cash withdrawals. This information confirmed also the company’s press office. You will not pay more than … only PLN 1,000 from the devices. What is the reason for this? Is there already a shortage of cash in Poland?
Euronet has limited the withdrawal of funds
The case was commented for PRNews by Ewa Miziołek, marketing and sales support director at Euronet Polska:
“Due to the significant increase in the number of cash withdrawals in recent months, on March 16, 2020, we introduced a one-time transaction limit of PLN 1,000. The limit applies at ATMs and deposit-ATMs for cash withdrawals made with cards or contactless. The limit has been introduced to ensure that as many customers as possible have access to cash. “
Is it really a sign that the country is running out of cash that can be topped up with ATMs? Apparently not …
“There is no problem with a lack of cash in the Polish banking system and cash deliveries to ATMs. Of course, any ATM may run out of money for a while if there is a lot of interest in cash withdrawals, but these are sporadic cases. It should be remembered, however, that apart from ATMs of the bank network, devices belonging to independent operators also operate. “
– Przemysław Barbrich, spokesman of the Polish Bank Association explained in an interview with ‘Fakt’.
This is not the first such blockade …
This is not the first time the Euronet operator has introduced this type of block. We experienced something similar a few years ago. At that time, it was only about reducing the costs of maintaining the network. It is more beneficial for the owner of an ATM when customers often charge smaller amounts. A fixed fee is charged on every withdrawal.
Now Euronet customers can still charge higher amounts, but they have to break them down into several withdrawals. For example, if you want to withdraw PLN 10,000, you must withdraw PLN 10,000 once. However, this is not very convenient, especially if you want to use an ATM that is very popular and thus create a large queue …
Remember that in the case of bitomats that are available on the Polish market, you do not have such restrictions.
