Major League Baseball Oakland Athletics says it wants to keep any Bitcoin it buys from ticket sales to its games.
Oakland Athletics sells tickets for BTC
In an interview with Bloomberg TechnologyOakland Athletics president Dave Kaval said the team has decided to accept Bitcoin in exchange for tickets to their games. Reason? Demand for this type of payment from fans.
– We heard from our fans that they were interested in paying with cryptocurrency, and we had heard it for six or eight months, so we said, “Hey, let’s see and take one of our products, our bundle, put it on sale for Bitcoin and see if we can find it.” any willing “ Kaval said.
As he added, the plan is to raise BTC. In this way, the team is to generate additional profits that will be used to attract new, famous players.
– We’ll hold it [tj. BTC]. We believe it and hope that [kurs] will continue to grow – Kaval said.
He also revealed that the team’s management is also analyzing the benefits that can flow from the issue of non-exchangeable tokens (NFT).
– Overall, we like blockchain, so non-exchangeable tokens are something we look at, especially when it comes to our intellectual property or our players (…). There are some things we want to break down in baseball and sports and that would be a really great area to try out new things in Oakland – he said.
NFT in the sports teams market
Recently, NFT are often used in the music and works of art market. But these types of tokens can also be used, for example, on the sports market.
There is, for example, a Polish thread in the latter issue. It’s about Legia Warsaw’s plans. The most famous football club in our country creates its fan token. All in cooperation with the Chiliz company. Thus, the team joins its 21 European counterparts, who also created their tokens for fans. The projects are based on the Socios platform, which belongs to Chiliz. It is worth recalling that such projects are decided by already recognized brands: FC Barcelona, Juventus and A.C. Milan.
