Steve Wozniak is suing YouTube for allowing his image to be misused in Bitcoin scams
Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak is suing YouTube and Google for videos on his platform that use his image in Bitcoin and cryptocurrency offer scams.
In a action moved in California’s High Court on Tuesday, Wozniak claims that the videos used his image without his permission. He and 17 others are suing YouTube and its parent company, Google, over video scams.
“As a result of the blatant failures of the defendants’ acts and affirmative misconduct in promoting this criminal company, plaintiff Wozniak has suffered and continues to suffer irreparable damage to his reputation, and YouTube users, including the authors, have been misled into million dollars, ”says the document.
The lawsuit claims that YouTube “refused or failed” to remove the fraudulent videos from the platform and even provided paid advertising for the videos. The file includes screenshots of several separate YouTube videos that show Wozniak’s face attached to an offer of 5,000 Bitcoins.

The action takes place a week after Twitter experienced a similar Bitcoin fraud, where celebrities, billionaires and companies apparently posted messages offering thousands of dollars in cryptocurrencies.
Twitter analyzed the situation within an hour after the fake tweets started and eventually blocked all verified accounts for two hours as a precautionary measure. The company said it believes the hack was possible by deceiving one or more of your employees who had access to Twitter’s internal systems and tools.
Tuesday’s documents said that Twitter acted “quickly and decisively” in blocking cryptocurrency hackers and said that YouTube “is hosting, promoting and profiting without apology with similar scams.”
