– we read in the article from July 31 in The Verge.

As a reminder, this is a hacking attack that took place in July, which hacked many more popular Twitter accounts, including those belonging to Elon Musk, Joe Biden and Bill Gates.

“Our offices have brought forward 30 counts of crimes committed against Clark, including organized fraud, communication fraud, identity theft and burglary.”

Andrew Warren, Hillsborough state attorney, said at a press conference yesterday.

A teenager named Clark

The Florida teenager who beat Twitter is Clark, 17 years old. This is all we know about him. Now he will stand trial.

Warren added that the Florida legal system allows it “More flexibility in prosecuting a minor as an adult in such a financial fraud case.”

Warren said he wasn’t sure if Clark had any accomplices.

“(…) he was not an ordinary 17-year-old. It was a very sophisticated attack on a scale never seen before “

– added.

Apparently, however, other young people are involved. He is a 19-year-old resident of Great Britain, Mason Sheppard, also known as “Chaewon,” 22-year-old of Orlando, Florida, Nim Fazeli, also known as “Rolex”, and an anonymous “minor” from Tampa, Florida.

“Today’s prosecution announcement demonstrates the joy of a despicable break-in into a safe environment [Twittera] for the sake of pleasure or profit, it will be short-lived “

David Anderson, the US prosecutor for the Northern California District said in a statement by the Department of Justice.

It is known that the efforts of Clark and his possible associates to hack Twitter, began on May 3, 2020, and ended successfully on July 16, 2020. After taking over the top accounts, the hacker promoted BTC scam on social media.
