The whale transferred USD 1.3 billion in BTC Blocksats

An anonymous whale transferred $ 1.3 billion in BTC in three transactions. Why? Is it a pro-growth or maybe prospective signal?

The whale carries BTC

According to data from the main cryptocurrency blockchain, an unknown investor from the Bitcoin market (BTC) by name moved under the network over 132,255 BTC, or about $ 1.3 billion, in three transactions with just one minute’s break. The funds were transferred on June 11 under block number 643 133.

Such large, transferred values raised concerns on the market and led, for example, to speculation that over 130,000 Bitcoins belong to a stock exchange or some kind of trust company. One Reddit user has even speculated that it is Coinbase Custody’s assets.

However, we do not know who owns the cryptocurrency, or why it is now moving it. This is not the first such transfer recently. In April, the Bitfinex cryptocurrency exchange moved as much as 161,500 BTC, or $ 1.1 billion, within blockchain. This makes this transaction the largest single transaction in the history of the Bitcoin chain.

However, neither the Bitfinex transaction, nor the new whale now revealed to us, was in fact related to the largest cryptocurrency amount ever transferred. This honor falls to a transaction worth 500,000 BTC on November 16, 2011. At that time, it was worth $ 1.32 million. Today, as much as 4.9 billion dollars.

Cheap transfers

Recently, we also wrote about how cheap it can be to transfer large funds under blockchain. An attentive observer of the cryptocurrency and blockchain market, Whale Alert, noticed a single transaction in May worth as much as 14,922 BTC, which was about $ 143.96 million at the time. The transfer of such a large amount cost him only 0.00003138 BTC, which was about 0.30 USD.
